<p><strong>In 1968, twelve-year-old Lorenzo Rodriguez was introduced to a Polynesian-based martial art called LimaLama-Hand of Wisdom.</strong></p><p>Less than three months later, without permission, he fought as an independent in his first tournament, and made it to the final four. He lost by disqualification for striking his opponent's face in both fights. It didn't matter, he loved it. It was the first time he could fight and not get in trouble with the authorities or at home.
