(Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Father of the Nation)The status of women in Pakistan is one of important topic, even though it varies considerably across regions, classes and the rural/urban divide due to uneven socioeconomic development and the impact of tribal, feudal, and capitalist social formations on women's lives. Today Pakistani women enjoy a better status as compared to past. Now in modern Pakistan, women have held high offices including that of the Prime Minister, Leader of the Opposition, Speaker of the National Assembly, federal ministers, judges, and generals in the armed forces. Generally, from birth to death 70% women do not need to earn their livings, father, brother and husband are responsible for their livings, protection and honor. There are many influential women in Pakistan which play a dominating role in our country. We would like to discuss some of them in the book.
